Brad Seng Nets Top 5 Finish at River Cities’ Opener

GRAND FORKS, ND (April 29) – The 2016 season opened Friday night on Brad Seng’s home turf; River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. Coming in as the brand new RCS track record holder, hopes were high on the first night of action for the Anderson Brother’s Body Shop #12 team.

Brad was fast right out of the gate as he took the lead on the opening lap of his heat race over friendly rival, Joey Pederson. Seng cruised through the eight lap event by leading from green to checkers and picked up the win over defending NLRA champion, Dustin Strand, by over two seconds. In the process, Brad laid down the fastest lap time of the heat race by circling the 3/10th mile bulling in 12.030 seconds, averaging 89.775mph.

The redraw placed Brad in the seventh starting position for the 20-lap main event. At the drop of the green flag, Seng fell back to ninth but quickly began working his way forward after the first handful of circuits. At the halfway point, Seng cracked the top five by maneuvering past the #Z17of Zach Naastad. Throughout the second half of the race, Seng fought tooth and nail with Canada’s Shane Edginton and seven-time and defending World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz.

At the time the checkers flew from the Sunrise Valley Properties flagstand, Dustin Strand took the win over Joey Pederson and Shane Edginton as Seng edged out Schatz for fourth.

Next up for the Forks Freightliner team is another Friday night date with the Grand Forks high-banked bullring.
