Jordan Adams Get Banged Up at River Cities Opener
GRAND FORKS, ND (April 29) – After spending the entire off-season recovering from ACL surgery, Jordan Adams and the Home of Economy team was ready to rock Friday night at River Cities Speedway to open up the 2016 racing season.
Jordan began the night in heat race two, starting inside the second row. The green flag waved and Adams immediately jumped into the second position behind race leader, Chris Ranten. Adams had his sights set on Ranten’s #27 machine, but Ranten was a rocketship out front turning laps nearly seven-tenths of a second faster than the rest of the field. Midway through the 10-lap heat Adams had his hands full with eighth-place starter Thomas Kennedy. Kennedy harassed the Adams lap after lap, but the young Reynolds, ND driver held tough and hung on to finish second.
Adams then lined up inside the third row for the 24-car, 25-lap main event. The green flag flew from the Valley Sunrise Properties flagstand to commence the race, but it was quickly followed by the yellow as a spin in turn three slowed the field. Once the field was reset, the race resumed and everybody jockeyed for position around the tight three-tenths mile bullring.
Disaster stuck on for Adams on lap two as Mitch Mack lost the steering in his #92 sprinter as a result of contact with Lou Kennedy. Mack’s car drifted down the banking of turn two right in front of Adams, who tried to counter steer to avoid Mack, but was hit in the rear end and shoved into a pile of cars that also collected Shane Roemling, Tom Egeland, Alex Larson, and Jordan Graham.
The damage on the WinField #20A was too severe to continue and Jordan was credited with a disappointing 20th place finish.
Jordan will be back in action next Friday night at River Cities Speedway with the NOSA Sprints!
