Trevor Mell Grabs Podium Finish at Arlington

HARWOOD, ND (May 10) – Trevor Mell Racing kicked off the 2016 season Friday night at the legendary bullring of River Cities Speedway. This was Trevor’s first appearance at the 3/10th mile oval and it gave him a great opportunity to shake down the car before Saturday night’s RaceSaver 305 event at Arlington Raceway.

To open the Friday night program, Mell lined up shotgun on the grid for his heat in ninth. Despite suffering damage to the nose wing, Mell came away with a seventh place finish, which put him 24th for the Buffalo Wild Wings A-main.

Mell maneuvered through traffic nicely and kept his nose clean throughout the 25-lap event. When the checkers flew, he was credited with a solid 18th place. Overall, Trevor was excited with how the night went.

“Wow, [River Cities] is a fun track. I hope to get back there more,” he said. “Even though racing with a 305 is like bringing a butter knife to a gun fight, I thought I did well considering it was my first time there and first time with my new motor.”

Saturday night at Arlington Raceway marked Trevor’s first time competing on a half-mile track. He started third in his heat but finish fifth after the track slicked off a little more than expected. Nonetheless Trevor made the redraw where he drew the three pill, putting him third on the A-main line up.

From green to checkers, he battled for position inside the top five.

“The track was slicked off and dry in the feature,” said Trevor. “The car worked really well once I found the right line. On the last yellow the two cars that got by me went low while I went high and that was the right move to make.”

Mell would round out the podium with a third place finish.

After an off weekend this weekend, the Powerhouse Bar & Grill #1AJ will head out to Jackson Speedway for the Spring Nationals on May 20th!
