Bladow Looks to Rebound at River Cities

GRAND FORKS, ND (May 27) – Despite a significant chance of rain forecasted for Grand Forks on Friday night, the PB&J Racing team remained optimistic and unloaded their A Primitive Place Magazine machine at River Cities Speedway.

Luminous clouds hovered just to the south of the 3/10th mile dirt oval as Robert rolled off for his heat race, but luckily the rain held off for the nine lap affair.

Bladow started inside the second row behind pole sitter, Bill Mooney, and WISSOTA’s only four-time Late Model national champion, Ricky Weiss. At the drop of the green flag, both Mooney and Weiss hesitated as they entered the first corner and Bladow capitalized. Robert drove to the inside of both veteran drivers and stole the lead with a beautiful move at the exit of turn two.

Robert came around to lead the opening lap with Mooney and Weiss right on his heels, but unfortunately he would fall to both Canadian drivers on the second circuit. At the checkers, Robert crossed the line in fourth which put him 12th on the starting grid for the main event.

On lap three of the feature, Bladow maneuvered his way past another veteran Late Model pilot, Tom Corcoran, to move into 11th.
As the race wore on it seemed as though the handling went away on the NAPA Auto Parts #00. Bladow lost a couple positions in the closing laps and settled for a 15th place finish in a star-studded field of WISSOTA Late Model talent.
