Dowling Picks Up First Win of the Season at BRRP

GLYNDON, MN (May 17) – After last weekend, the race season is in full swing for Dowling Motorsports. Dan kicked off the 2016 racing season at the newly reopened Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND.

Dan rolled off in the third starting position in his SK Soil Solutions #5X. In the early going, Dowling was battling for the second position when contact was made between him and the #33 of Brennan Urbach. As a result, Dowling lost a few a positions. A couple laps later, Dowling found himself caught up in another incident and was forced to restart at the tail of the field.

In the closing laps Dan got his elbows up and put the hammer down as he cruised back through the field to rally for a solid fifth place finish in his first race back in a pure stock since 2012.

Over Saturday and Sunday, the Knickerbocker Liquor Locker crew made repairs to their machine and made a last minute decision to head to Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, MN.

And that decision would pay off.

Dan got the night started off in the right direction as he picked up the heat race win from the fifth starting position.

Dan would then roll off from sixth for the Pure Stock main event. He didn’t stay there long, however. At the drop of the green flag, Dowling starting picking off positions one by one and took the lead with a bold three wide move in turns three and four. Once out front, Dan maintained a comfortable advantage as he cruised to the checkered flag.
