Lee Grosz Races to Runner-up Finish at Rock Rapids

HARWOOD, ND (May 11) – The Lee Grosz Racing team loaded up and hit the road for a double header weekend of 360 Sprint Car racing in the state of Iowa.

Friday night brought the team to Rock Rapids Speedway where Lee found speed right from the get go. Despite starting in the sixth and final spot for the eight lap heat race, Lee charged through the field and picked up the win over Ryan Bickett.

The impressive drive placed Grosz in seventh on the starting grid for the 25-lap GoMuddy.com NSL A-main. Lee’s speed carried over to the feature as he quickly drove his way up to the third position. With 10 to go, Lee found his way into second and began reeling in race leader, Bickett. With just three circuits remaining, Grosz had completely closed the gap between himself and Bickett, but got caught behind a lapped car and lost some ground.

Lee mounted one last charge on Bickett in turns three and four on the final lap, but came up just short at the line.

Following the race at Rock Rapids, the team headed to the Sprint Car capital of the world, Knoxville Raceway. Lee admitted that they missed the setup a bit as he timed in 13th to start the night. That put him in seventh for his heat. With passing being at a minimum, Lee finished the seven lap race in the seventh position.

Lee rolled off 13th for the feature, but with a fast and tacky racing surface and a groove that was only about three to four car lengths wide, he completed the 18-lap event right where he started.
The Lee Grosz Racing team will have an off weekend this weekend before heading to Jackson Speedway next Friday and McCool Junction Speedway in Nebraska on Saturday.
