Another Top 10 Finish for Mitch at Devils Lake Speedway
CRARY, ND (June 8) – After having Friday night’s program at River Cities Speedway cancelled due to rain, the Mitch Mack Motorsports team loaded up and headed out to Devils Lake Speedway Saturday afternoon for their second of three appearances at the high-banked quarter-mile track.
The team got behind the eight-ball a bit after a fourth place finish in their heat race. That result lined up the Jeff’s Repair/GF1 Chassis 11th on the starting grid for the 25-lap feature.
Things got exciting for Mitch on the opening lap as Blake Egeland’s #26 machine lost power and slowed right in front of him. A few cars were collected in the incident, but Mitch found a way around the stack up and would restart the race in ninth.
The green flag resumed the race once again and it became apparent that passing would be hard to come by as the bottom lane was the heavily preferred groove. Still, Mitch was able to pick off a few positions through the early and mid-portions of the event and found himself in seventh with six laps to go.
A few laps later, Mack drove his EGF Dental #92 a little too hard into turns one and two and spun out. He was able to keep the car fired, however, and did a complete 360 before getting the car righted and continuing on in the race. Mitch only lost two positions after all that and took the checkers in the ninth position.
The solid outing marked the team’s third consecutive top 10 finish. Mitch now sits sixth in the NOSA point standings and will look to make his way into the top five, as well as getting that first victory of the season this Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.
