Mell Fights Back to Finish Fourth at Badlands!

BRANDON, SD (June 28) – Race number seven of the 2016 season for Trevor Mell Racing was held at Badlands Motor Speedway last Saturday night. Trevor ended up with a solid fourth place finish at the end of the night, but it was no easy task.
Still in search of that first career win, the team got a little creative with the setup for the heat race.

Mell started on the pole and finished third in the six-lap preliminary race.

“We tried some different things setup-wise for the heat that ended up backfiring,” said Trevor. “So we went back to our old setup for the feature.”

Mell redrew the pole for the 15-lap A-main, but the race got off to a rocky start. In the early stages of the event, Trevor got his left front tire up too far on the inside berm and looped the Rothsay Powerhouse / JR Construction #1AJ.

The caution flag was display and Mell was forced to tag the tail of the field. Mell, the lone North Dakota pilot in the lineup, charged through the pack at the midpoint of the race and rallied to take the checkers in the fourth spot.

“The night went really good overall, I have to thank my dad, Chase and Brock for all their help.”

The Performance Auto of Fargo/#DashNation team will have next weekend off due to the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series special on Saturday at Badlands. The next race on the schedule will be Saturday, July 9th at the Brandon, SD 3/8th mile oval.
