Mell Races to Podium Finish at Badlands

BRANDON, SD (June 8) – The JR Construction 305 Sprint Car team was back in action Saturday night at Badlands Motor Speedway and they were looking to rebound from last weekend’s performance.

The night got started off on the right foot as Trevor drew the pole for his heat, but it didn’t quite go as planned.

“The heat race was pretty rough,” said Trevor. “I started on the pole and finished third. I hit a rut going into turn one and two cars got by me. My front wing post broke too so the wing collapsed, but I was able to hold on to third.”

Trevor then drew the pole once again for the 15-lap main event. As the green flag flew, Mell filed into second behind the #3Z of Matt Ziebrath. As fate would have it, that same rut would cost the Powerhouse Bar & Grill machine once again.

“I was running second for two laps and hit the same rut again in turn one, which allowed Jesse Lindberg to get by me. After that I was able to have a great battle for third with longtime friend Dusty Ballenger. I really didn’t know who was getting a run on me until the end of the race when Dusty came over and told me ‘hell of a race’. It was a great night for the 1AJ team. Thanks to my crew, Dad, Rob, Chase, and Rylan.”
