Mell Scores Yet Another Top 10 at Badlands

BRANDON, SD (July 21) – Last Saturday night Trevor Mell and the Dakota Cat/Panther Graphics team were back at Badlands Motor Speedway. The forecast looked unfavorable throughout the day, but the rains held off long enough to get the entire night of racing completed.

A fifth place finish in his heat put Mell outside of the front row for the 15-lap feature race.

“The track was tough during the feature,” said Trevor. “I was running strong in the fifth position with three laps to go when I spun and ended up finishing ninth. Overall it was a good night.”

Sunday afternoon the team left Sioux Falls and made the trek up I-29 to compete at Red River Valley Speedway. The Red River Valley Fair event marked the first Sprint Car race in four years at the 3/8th mile oval and it gave Mell the chance to race in front of several friends and family members.

“It was great to race close to home and have a big crowd,” continued Mell.

With a 5pm start time, the racing surface was a tricky one all evening long which played into the hands of some drivers, but also bit several others.

“I thought the track was fine considering they couldn’t start working on it until noon. It was nice and smooth. Hats off to Jake Bitker and crew for getting the race in.”

This Saturday night Trevor will return to Badlands Motor Speedway, where he looks to improve upon his solid runs as of late and continues to chase the elusive first career victory.
