Nygaard Builds Momentum Entering Double Header Weekend!

GRAND FORKS, ND (August 17)

Weekend Preview:

Wade Nygaard’s driver for NOSA championship number nine is still alive, but it is highly contested as the series gears up for a double
header weekend. Wade currently holds a slim two point lead over two-time series champion Casey Mack and a 15 point advantage over 2014 champion, Austin Pierce.

Fortunately for Nygaard, two of his best tracks are on tap this weekend; River Cities Speedway on Friday night and Devils Lake
Speedway on Saturday.

Nygaard has one win at the 3/10th mile Grand Forks bulling in 2016, as well as several podium and top five finishes, including last Friday night’s runner-up effort.

When the NOSA tour heads west to Devils Lake Speedway on Saturday, Nygaard will certainly be one of the guys to beat. With a NOSA-best 12 career victories at the high-banked quarter-mile, Wade will be looking to extend his point lead and back up the victory he captured at DLS back on May 17th.

River Cities Recap:

Last Friday night Wade competed at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks for a non-points paying NOSA show.

After finishing second in his heat, Wade started fifth in the 19-car field. By lap three, the driver of the Auto Finance Super Center #9N was in the lead and looking strong. Casey Mack assumed the point at the midpoint of the race, but an incident in lapped traffic put Nygaard back on top with just four laps remaining.

As the race resumed, Nygaard pulled away from second running Austin Pierce, but Pierce battled back to take the lead with two laps to go.
Nygaard used the cushion to drive by Pierce coming to the white, but Nygaard suffered a push in turns one and two on the final lap which
allowed Pierce to take the lead and drive away with the win.

“That was a lot of fun. I wish we could have been running in second for the restart. I kind of felt like a sitting duck there for a while,”
said Nygaard. “We were both running about the same speed so I was expecting him to show himself at some point. I just told myself to
throw the car into the corner like I had been doing and try not to screw up.”

“I hooked the cushion with two to go and had to get up on the wheel to reel him back in,” continued Nygaard. “I was able to make things
interesting on the last lap, but it was a good race. Austin just beat me and that was definitely one to remember.”
