2016 Season-In-Review

HARWOOD, ND (September 24) – After kicking things off back in early May, the 2016 racing season has finally come to an end for Trevor Mell Racing. It was a season of ups and downs, but overall both the team and driver learned a lot and built up their notebook for 2017.

The year got off to a great start for Trevor with a third place finish at his first 305 race of the year in Arlington, MN. Trevor started third and finished third in the main event on the big half-mile. Mell then had some solid performances at Jackson Motorplex and Badlands Motor Speedway in late May and early June before picking up another podium finish at Badlands on June 4th.

June ended with three consecutive top 10’s at Badlands. July nearly brought Trevor his first win at Badlands and first career win overall, but contact with another competitor late in the race cost the Harwood, ND driver a spot on that coveted Huset’s/Badlands wins list.

With how the team progressed throughout the season, however, that elusive win at the Brandon, SD 3/8th mile is becoming more and more inevitable.

The team will rebuild in the offseason and get ready to take on Badlands once again in 2017 with hopes of picking up multiple checkered flags, and gunning for the points championship.

“It was a tough season overall,” said Trevor. “Not just in racing, but in life lessons too. I want to thank my wife, Andrea, for her support all season, along with my mom and dad for everything they do.”

Mell’s sophomore season behind the wheel resulted in him taking home four top 5’s, seven top 10’s, and a heat race win in 14 races in 2016.

Trevor also thanks all the great sponsors that supported him in 2016!
