Strand Kicks Off 2017 with Runner-up Finish at North Central Speedway!

BRAINERD, Minn. (April 24, 2017) – Last Saturday night Jason Strand and the E85 Racing team made the haul out to Brainerd, Minnesota to open their 2017 season at North Central Speedway. Coming into the night there were a few unknowns with Strand’s brand new Black Widow Racing Chassis, but a podium finish in the feature put an answer to a lot of those questions.

Strand began the night with a fourth place finish in his heat after starting in the fourth position. The redraw for the main event placed the Portland, N.D. driver in the fourth starting position once again.

“I fell back to fifth right away at the start, but then I raced door-to-door with a couple different guys and worked my way up to second,” said Strand. “It was a good race and we came away without a scratch on the car. I’m happy with how the night went.”

Jason attributes the excellent track conditions to the close, competitive racing seen all night.

“I was amazed with the track,” he said. “There was no frost spots, it was smooth, it was perfect.”

Over the offseason, Strand made the switch to an all new Black Widow Chassis by ‎Joey Ciechanowski. After the first night of competition, Strand is excited about his new car and hopes his second place run is a sign of good things to come in 2017.

“I think this is the best car I’ve ever had,” he said. “With a base setup right out of the box, it worked awesome. The track was black from the bottom to two or three car lengths from the top. I’ve never had a car that worked that well on the shine like that.”

Looking ahead, the team will be at the Test N Tunes at Norman County Raceway (NCR) on Thursday night and Red River Valley Speedway (RRVS) on Friday night, weather permitting.

Jason plans to hit as many races at NCR and RRVS as possible in 2017, along with multiple stops at Jamestown Speedway and possibly a few at Buffalo River Race Park.

Jason and the entire E85 Racing team would like to thank all their sponsors for their continued support!
