Thomas Kennedy Sweeps the Weekend at I-80!

GREENWOOD, Neb. (April 11, 2017) – Last weekend Thomas Kennedy was back in action at I-80 Speedway with the Nebraska 360’s. Coming off a second place run at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla. the week prior, Kennedy was hoping for pair of strong runs at the two-day Bugeater Bash.

Friday night, Kennedy parked his Kennedy Floorings/General Signs No. 21K in victory lane after starting 11th. In the final laps, Kennedy reeled in the leader, Tasker Phillips, and the two put on a show for the race win. On the final lap, Kennedy held the lead entering turn three, but Phillips executed a big time slider to momentarily regain the point. Exiting turn four, Kennedy had the momentum and he powered back by Phillips to steal the win at the checkers.

In the process, Kennedy also earned the $200 Speedway Motors Hard Charger award.

Saturday was nearly a mirror image from Friday. Kennedy lined up deep in the field for the 25-lap, $2,500-to-win Speedway Motors/Malvern Bank main event. After starting 16th, Kennedy had incredibly made his way up to 6th by just the third circuit. By lap five, he rode in second.

Once again Kennedy had another Phillips between himself and the lead; this time it was Sawyer. Lapped traffic allowed Kennedy to reel in the Pleasantville, IA pilot and he made the race winning pass with 13 laps to go.

From there, Kennedy went on to dominate the remainder of the feature and secured his second win of the season. He also claimed his second consecutive $200 Speedway Motors Hard Charger award.
