Kennedy’s Top Five at Knoxville Highlights Solid Weekend
WINNIPEG, MB (May 10, 2017) – Thomas Kennedy was back in action last weekend, starting Friday night at I-80 Speedway with the Nebraska 360 Sprints. Entering the event, Kennedy held an 82 point lead in the Nebraska 360 standings and looked to extend his three-race winning streak with the series.
Things got off to a great start as Kennedy wheeled his way to a heat race win, which put him seventh on the starting grid for the $2,500-to-win A-main.
Once the feature got underway, Kennedy began storming through the field. The driver of the Kennedy Floorings No. 21K was up to fourth by lap two, and found himself in third by lap three.
After a spirited battle, Kennedy took over second on lap 18 as he passed Jack Dover. A caution reset the field on lap 20. Following the restart, Kennedy was relegated back to third as Dover found a way by.
Kennedy went on to finish in the final podium spot and holds a 68 point lead over Ryan Roberts atop the point standings.
On Saturday night, the Kennedy Racing Team made a rare appearance at Knoxville Raceway, competing with the 360 division.
After timing in 13th, Kennedy went on to score the win in heat race number one. That placed the Forks Finest Auto Body/Speedway Shots machine eighth on the starting grid for the 18-lap feature.
Kennedy charged through the field once again, taking the third position from Jamie Ball with seven laps to go. A late race caution reset the field and Ball was able to maneuver past Kennedy on the final lap to secure third as Kennedy took Doug Clark’s checkered flag in fourth.
