Mitch Races 360 Motor to Podium Finish at River Cities!

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 16, 2017) – The Mitch Mack Motorsports crew were back in action last Friday night at River Cities Speedway with the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints. Mitch picked up his first podium finish of the season, despite running a smaller 360 motor against the big 410’s.

The driver of the Joe Black’s/Jay Holmes Valley Auto Sales No. 92 began the night by lining up deep in the field for the third and final heat race.

“We started fourth row inside and ran the bottom the first few laps,” said Mitch. “We were in a good heat and got up to the front fairly quickly. I felt like I was closing in on [Jade] Hastings and Austin [Pierce] there at the end. With that 360 it’s just a matter of keeping it straight, keeping it wound up, and staying on the high side.”

Mitch was so comfortable with the car in the heat race, the crew hardly made any adjustments to it for the feature.

“The car ran good. The setup was great all night,” Mitch continued. “We didn’t change a thing all night for the feature besides tires.”

The first half of the feature didn’t go according to plan as Mitch fell back to 11th after starting in fourth.

“We feel back to fifth or sixth right away, then we got pinched off the track in [turn] three so we had to restart in the back,” said Mitch. “After awhile the bottom side blew off so the high line was all that was left if you were going to go anywhere. I just kept it to the rug and kept the car as straight as I could and it just worked out well. Things just went our way.”

After restarting 11th on lap nine, Mitch climbed his way back into the top five on lap 16 of 25. He remained in the fifth position until the final circuits. Mitch was able to get by Bob Martin on lap 23 and beat Wade Nygaard to the checkers with a last lap, last corner place for third.

“It’s a real big confidence booster for next week when we get the big motor in,” said Mitch. “I can’t wait until we get that 410 motor, it’s going to be great.”

Mitch and the entire crew would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support!
