Nygaard Motorsports: Wade Tallies Two Top Fives at River Cities & Cedar Lake!
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 9, 2017) – Wade and the Nygaard Motorsports crew were back in action last weekend with a pair of races slated for Friday and Saturday night. Friday night marked the highly anticipated River Cities Speedway opener with the Buffalo Wild Wings Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA).
Wade raced to a third place finish in his heat race to begin the night.
“The car as really good. We made some changes after the heat. We were running a brand new motor and we were just trying to figure out the gearing and stuff like that. We made some changes for the feature and we were running really good,” said Wade.
In the feature, Wade was trailing the No. 13 of Mark Dobmeier when things got interesting in lapped traffic.
“After we got our momentum up, we were keeping pace with Mark. We had a couple shots at him when we got caught up in lapped traffic, but then a lapped car hit the wall and popped out in front of me. I had to pitch the car sideways to avoid running straight into them.”
Wade made contact with the lapped car, spun around, and came to a stop, which forced him to the tail of the lead lap in 15th on the ensuing restart
“In seven laps we got back up to fifth,” said Wade. “So that was a good way to salvage the night.”
On Saturday night, the Auto Finance Super Center team made the trip to New Richmond, Wis. to compete with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints at Cedar Lake Speedway. Hopes were high entering the night as Wade had visited victory lane the week before at Cedar Lake in 360 competition.
After a less than perfect qualifying run, Wade drove from seventh to third in his heat race, which put him 12th on the starting line up for the feature.
“We made some really good calls on the setup for the feature,” said Wade. “The car felt awesome and we drove up to third. I had second and first in my sights, and I thought in a couple more laps, this is going to get really interesting. We were just about to go by Cap Henry for second, but when it was over he didn’t go to the scales so we ended up getting credit for second.”
Looking ahead, the Nygaard Motorsports team will be back at River Cities Speedway on Friday night and plan to take on Badlands Motor Speedway Saturday night at the Silver Shootout.
