Pierce Looks Forward to Returning to River Cities this Friday Night!

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 23, 2017) – Coming off a second place finish the previous week, expectations were high for the Austin Pierce Racing team last Friday night at River Cities Speedway.

The evening got off to a solid start as Austin wheeled his No. 2A machine to a runner-up finish in his heat.

“We got up to second right away and just kind of ran there,” said Austin. “Thomas [Kennedy] got by us, then we got by the guy who was leading so we ended up second.”

The three-tenths mile dirt oval had plenty of speed and moisture in it for the heat, before drying off nicely for the features.

“I liked the conditions during the heat. It was hard to say what it was going to do for the feature, but we went with our drier setup,” Austin said.

Austin never got to see how that setup played out as he was collected in an incident on lap two of the feature, which ended his night prematurely.

A spinning car came down the track in turn two and made contact with Pierce, sending him upside down.

“I was as low as I could go on the track,” he said. “All of the sudden I saw the #31 spinning out in front of us and I had nowhere to go.”

There was relatively minimal damage to the Opp Construction/Lithia Ford machine, but it was still too much damage to fix with no guaranteed time in the work area.

The APR crew will be back at it and ready to go next Friday night at the bullring.

Austin and the entire team would like to thank their sponsors for their continued support!
