Jason Strand Eyes First Win of 2017!
PORTLAND, N.D. (June 21, 2017) – Tonight, Jason Strand returns to action behind the wheel of his North Dakota Corn Council / Precision Electric No. E85. The first of his two-race weekend will take him to Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn., where he has a season-best finish of second.
“Hopefully the track can dry out a little more this week and make it a little more racy so we can get up there and make some passes,” said Strand. “I know Jake [Bitker] had no control over it last week with the rain that fell before the races.”
With the exception of last week’s result, Strand’s average finish in his first two events at NCR was 3.5.
On Friday, Strand will head south to Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo. In his first four visits to the high-banked three-eighths mile oval, Strand has finished in the top 10 in every race, with an average finish of sixth.
“I’m very excited to go back to Fargo on Friday. We found some things two weeks ago and I think we have ourselves a better race car for this weekend,” said Strand.
RECAP:
Last week, Strand’s only event of the weekend took place on Thursday night at Norman County Raceway. Heavy rain earlier in the week, followed by a brief downpour an hour before the race, made for extremely tough track conditions.
After being mired back in the third row of his heat race, Strand was forced to settle with a sixth place finish on the incredibly fast and tacky racing surface.
Strand started 11th on the grid for the 20 lap main event.
“It was a locked down, fast track. Everyone was pretty much the same speed,” he said. “It kind of came down to luck of the draw and where you started. In the feature, I just couldn’t get going and everyone was the same speed.
“I blew it off the end of the track and decided enough was enough. The track was getting rough and we were beating up equipment.”
Races start at 7pm both nights. This evening at NCR, the IMCA Modifieds will co-headline the night with the NOSA 410 Sprint Cars. On Friday at RRVS, a fireworks show will follow the night’s racing action.
Jason and the entire E85 Racing team would like to thank all their sponsors for their continued support!
