Jason Strand Records Top Fives at Norman County & Red River Valley!

PORTLAND, N.D. (June 13, 2017) – Jason Strand and the North Dakota Corn Council / The Pit Stop Bar team made appearances last week at Norman County Raceway (NCR) and Red River Valley Speedway (RRVS) on Friday. Strand recorded top fives at each event, but the weekend got off to a rough start.

During his heat race at NCR, Strand was involved in an incident in turn four, which caused heavy damage to the right front of his No. E85 machine.

“We had to replace lower and upper A-frames, shock, spindle, rotor, pretty much everything on the right front was wrecked,” he said. “Fortunately, we had everything with so we just swapped it out. We didn’t have everything set perfect for the feature, but we made it work with what we had.”

Strand started the 20-lap IMCA Modified feature in the eighth position.

For the majority of the race, Strand raced two and three wide with Tyler Hall, Michael Johnson, Tyler Peterson, and Lucas Rodin, among others.

“I kind of settled into the groove,” said Strand. “It was a pretty good race, but we just couldn’t get going. Everybody just seemed to be on the same page.”

Still, Strand was able to make his way forward to pick up a fifth place finish.

On Friday night, the E85 Racing team made their way south to Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo.

Strand picked up his first heat race win of 2017, which lined him up third on the 23 car starting grid for the feature.

Strand jumped out to the lead in the early going before Rob VanMil and Austin Arneson challenged him for the lead.

“The track was very good. It’s just tough to stay up front with all of those guys that are there. Everyone is just so good, but we learned a lot this weekend. We found some things and I think we have ourselves a better race car for this weekend.”

Strand will be racing at Norman County Raceway again this Thursday night. Racing starts at 7p.m. in Ada, Minn.
