Kennedy Records Top Fives at Norman County, River Cities

WINNIPEG, MB (June 28, 2017) – Thomas Kennedy returned to action last weekend in the Blazin’ Racin’ No. 82 with a pair of NOSA Sprint Car events on the schedule.

The weekend began Thursday night at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn. After charging from eighth to win his heat race, Thomas started fourth on the 24-car starting grid for the 25-lap main event.

At the drop of the green flag, Kennedy quickly moved forward to challenge Wade Nygaard for the race lead. On lap three, Kennedy made a move to the high side of Nygaard exiting turn four, but Nygaard took the line away to hold the lead.

Kennedy then settled back into second before mounting another charge for the lead in the second half of the race. Mired in heavy lapped traffic, Kennedy pulled even with the nine-time NOSA champion exiting turn two and held the point by a half car length down the backstretch.

However, Nygaard reclaimed the lead in turn three, forcing Kennedy back to second. In the closing laps, Kennedy’s right rear tire began to expire, which allowed Mark Dobmeier to sneak by and steal second, as Kennedy held on for third at the checkers.

On Friday night, the Buffalo Wild Wings team unloaded at River Cities Speedway.

Just as he did the night before, Kennedy picked up the heat race win, which put him sixth on the grid for the 25-lap A-main.

After cracking into the top five, Kennedy’s charge stalled out. The Winnipeg, Manitoba driver reached the fourth position, which is where he would go on to finish.

Kennedy will be back in the Blazin’ Racin’ No. 82 this weekend before returning to the family-owned No. 21K.
