Lee Grosz Builds Momentum Heading into Jackson Nationals

HARWOOD, N.D. (May 31, 2017) – After rain had slowed Lee Grosz and the Beds By Design crew for the past couple of weekends, they were back in action last Saturday night at Park Jefferson Speedway with the MSTS and Nebraska 360’s.

Lee timed in ninth overall in time trials, which put him outside of the front row for the heat race, where he finished second.

In the feature, Lee started seventh on the 24-car starting grid.

“We fell back right away. It was kind of rough and choppy in turns one and two and I probably wasn’t driving like I should have been,” said Lee.

With eight laps to go a red flag halted the field.

“My crew guys, Austin, told me to get up on the wheel and pass a couple cars. I figured I had nothing to lose with eight to go and ended up getting up to third,” continued Lee. “We were discussing afterwards that if I would have drove that way the whole race, we probably would have had a shot at winning. But when it’s rough like that, it’s kind of hard to get after it right away. You just want to keep the car in one piece.”

Lee’s third place finish marked his fifth top five of the season.

This coming weekend Lee will be competing at the Jackson Nationals at the Jackson Motorplex.

“I’m looking forward to hopefully getting three nights of racing in. The goal for all three nights is to win, but after Thursday and Friday it would be nice to get in the top six and get locked in Saturday’s feature. It would be nice to not have to worry about heat races or anything on Saturday and just focus on winning the feature.”
