Lee Grosz Records Top 10 With NOSA 410’s at Norman County
ADA, Minn. (June 27, 2017) – Last Thursday evening, the Lee Grosz Racing team made an appearance at Norman County Raceway to compete against the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Cars. Despite running a 360 motor against the big 410’s on the high-banked three-eights mile oval, Lee was among the favorites to win entering the night.
The pressure was on early in the night as Lee was mired back in the seventh starting position for his heat race.
“The heat races aren’t very long so I knew I had to do something to get by those guys,” said Lee. “On the second lap I went to the top in turns one and two and kind of slid off the banking and lost everything I had gained on the start.”
Lee rebounded from falling to the back to pick off a couple more positions and finish in sixth.
That put the Harwood, N.D. driver back in the 16th position on the starting grid.
“We got up to seventh at one point, then the yellow came out,” continued Lee. “I think we were pretty good until the rubber started coming in. We were passing cars on the high side at a decent rate. After the yellow came out the car got a little tight.”
Lee held on to finish in the eight position to pick up his 11th top 10 of 2017.
“After we got home, we were tearing down the car for maintenance and found that we had a right rear shock that came apart. Who knew when that came apart. Maybe that was a part of the problem there at the end.”
Overall, Lee was pleased with the night.
“All in all it was a good night. It always seems to be a racy race track. They did what they could with the wind and the heat. I’m just happy we were able to come out of there in one piece,” concluded Lee.
