Ready for the Outlaws!

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 16, 2017) – This weekend the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series invades the Red River Valley, beginning with River Cities Speedway (RCS) tonight. Austin Pierce enters the weekend leading the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA) point standings with one win at the RCS.

During last year’s pair of Outlaws events at the bullring, Pierce’s best result came in the June race where he recorded a top 10 finish. The two-time RCS track champion will be looking to duplicate that effort tonight as the “Greatest Show on Dirt” invades his home track.

On Saturday, the World of Outlaws will be making their first appearance to Red River Valley Speedway in five years. When the NOSA Sprints visited the West Fargo three-eighths mile last July, Pierce recorded a top five finish with over 30 Sprints on hand.

RECAP:
Last weekend the Lithia Ford / Opp Construction team was in action at RCS. Pierce raced to a heat race win to start the night, but inclement weather forced the postponement of the main event. Pierce is scheduled to start the 25-lapper fifth.

Saturday marked NOSA’s first appearance at Jamestown Speedway since 2014. Pierce, who was the most recent winner at the high-banked quarter-mile, picked up where he left off by winning his heat.

Pierce started fifth on the 24-car grid, but quickly jumped into the top three at the drop of the green flag. The driver of the No. 2A Schnee battled with Wade Nygaard and Bob Martin in the early going before moving into the second spot around the halfway point.

Pierce set his sights on Jordan Adams for the lead, but wasn’t able to reel him in on the narrow racing groove.

When the white flag flew, Pierce was within striking distance of Adams, but coming out of the final corner his right rear tire blew. That allowed Nygaard to sneak by and steal the runner-up spot at the checkers, as Pierce had to settle for third.

Austin and the entire team would like to thank their sponsors for their continued support!
