RECAP: Wade Nygaard Finds Victory Lane at Norman County Raceway!

ADA, Minn. (June 27, 2017) – After picking up a win in late April, Wade Nygaard found victory lane again Thursday night as the NOSA Sprints made their annual visit to Norman County Raceway. Nygaard topped the field of 24 Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints in front of a capacity crowd at the big three-eighths mile oval.

After starting on the pole, Nygaard got the jump on Shane Roemeling and led the field into turn one. Within a matter of laps, the racing surface began to take rubber, which played into Nygaard’s hand as the leader. Thomas Kennedy challenged Nygaard for the top spot in the early going, but the nine-time and defending NOSA champion was able to fend off Kennedy and hold the lead.

Once Nygaard reached lapped traffic, Kennedy put the pressure on again. The driver of the No. 82 nearly stole the lead from Nygaard down the back straightaway, but Nygaard won the drag race back into turn three.

“I thought I about lost it when Thomas got beside me coming out of turn two,” said Nygaard in KRJB Victory Lane. “I think he might have gotten into the marbles a little bit and I was still in the rubber so it worked out.”

With six laps to go, the lone caution of the event came out, putting Kennedy and Mark Dobmeier right on Nygaard’s tail for the restart.

“I was hoping there would be less laps, because I knew we would get to lapped traffic before the end of the race,” continued Nygaard. “Once we got to lapped traffic, I just had to calm down and be patient.”

On Friday, the Nygaard Motorsports crew unloaded for the first of two nights at River Cities Speedway, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings.

After a second place finish in his heat, Nygaard rolled off fifth on the 26-car grid.

Wade quickly moved up to the second spot at the drop of the green flag and set his sights on Austin Pierce. Lapped traffic allowed Nygaard to close in on Pierce on a few occasions, but at the checkers, the driver of the Auto Finance Super Center No. 9N had to settle for the runner-up position.

Saturday’s event at River Cities Speedway was cancelled due to rain.

Wade and the entire crew would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support including, Auto Finance Super Center, C&M Ford Sales, Inc, ICON Architectural Group, Valley Oral & Facial Surgery, Ground Round Grill & Bar-Grand Forks, ND, Tammy Howard, Greenberg Realty, Dahlstrom Motors Inc., DeMer’s Stor-All, Gary Paulson Farms, Energy Release, Northland Custom Woodworking, Bosh Enterprises!
