Wade Nygaard Enters Jackson Nationals Coming Off Runner-up Finish at River Cities

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 31, 2017) – Last Friday night, Wade Nygaard recorded a second place finish in the NOSA Sprint Car feature at River Cities Speedway. The runner-up finish marks his season-best result of the year at the three-tenths mile bullring, and the team was pretty pleased with how the night went.

The night started off with a second place finish, which lined him up fourth for the feature. Wade moved into third at the drop of the green flag and battled with Bob Martin for the majority of the race.

With just a few circuits remaining, Wade was able to close in on Martin and pass him for the second spot. With only a lap and a half remaining, Wade had little time to close in on the leader, Austin Pierce, and had to settle for second.

“We are pretty happy with the night, overall,” said Wade. “The car was pretty good in the feature. The track wasn’t real racey. It was rough and choppy and there really was only one lane in turns three and four so everybody was right around the bottom. Once I got by Bobby [Martin] for second, that was about the only lap I was clear of everybody, but by then the race was over.”

Nygaard extended his streak of top fives to six races and currently sits second in the NOSA point standings.

“With the track conditions, we were pretty happy to finish second and roll it in the trailer,” said Wade. “On nights like that, that’s all you can really hope for.”

This weekend the Nygaard Motorsports crew will be heading to Jackson Motorplex for the 39th annual AGCO Jackson Nationals.

“We are all set to run the 360 this weekend. It should be a fun time down there. I have a lot of friends down there I can’t wait to see and hang out with. Plus, after we’re done racing, we get to sit back and watch the Outlaws, so it can’t get much better than that.”

Nygaard is looking forward to getting back to Jackson after not competing there for the past couple of seasons.

“I think we’ve only ran there twice since they have renovated the facility. I think both times we were there it was kind of misting and raining. It wasn’t the best conditions so I’m really looking forward to getting back there. It’s one of my favorite places to race.”

Wade and the entire crew would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support including, Auto Finance Super Center, C&M Ford Sales, Inc, ICON Architectural Group, Valley Oral & Facial Surgery, Ground Round Grill & Bar-Grand Forks, ND, Tammy Howard, Greenberg Realty, Dahlstrom Motors Inc., DeMer’s Stor-All, Gary Paulson Farms, Energy Release, Northland Custom Woodworking, Bosh Enterprises!
