Austin Pierce Garners Two Top-Fives With NOSA Sprints

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 4, 2017) – Austin Pierce entered last weekend’s NOSA double header with a slim eight point lead over Casey Mack atop the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA standings. By the end of the weekend, Pierce’s consistency would increase that points lead.

The Opp Construction / Lithia Ford team began the weekend Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. Austin picked up his sixth heat win of the season as he drove from third to the lead in the 10-lap affair.

A redraw of zero lined the feature straight up, which put the two-time River Cities Speedway track champion third on the grid. While the results sheet may read that Austin drove from third to finish second, the 25-lap feature was much more exciting than that for the Grand Forks driver.

Austin moved into the second position by lap five, setting his sights on Chris Ranten for the race lead. Just as Austin took over the runner-up spot, he lost the handle on his No. 2A machine and spun in turn four. As a result, he was forced to go to the tail of the field.

After restarting in 14th, Austin quickly worked his way back into the top 10 in just two laps.

He didn’t stop there.

A late race restart helped propel Austin from sixth to third with four laps to go. From there, he reeled in the lead duo of Ranten and Wade Nygaard. On the final lap, Austin maneuvered by Ranten to regain second.

On Saturday, the Austin Pierce Racing crew unloaded at Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, Minn.

Austin raced his way to a third place finish in heat race number one, which lined him up midpack for the 25-lap main event.

The driver of the AJ’s Sandblasting / Dahlstrom Motors machine methodically moved his way to the front, before landing inside the top five with 10 to go.

Austin rode in the fourth position for the remaining laps and hung on to record his 11th top five of the 2017 season.

Austin and the entire team would like to thank their sponsors for their continued support!
