Jordan Adams Racing – Up & Down Night at River Cities
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 11, 2017) – It was an up and down night to say the least Friday night at River Cities Speedway. Adams had his first feature win at The Bullring in his grasp during the June 9th make-up race, while he made a strong charge through the field in the second feature.
The Friday night program began with the 25-lap Buffalo Wild Wings main event that was postponed due to rain on June 9th. Adams lined up on the pole as a total of 20 cars made the call.
Adams jumped out to the early lead over Blake Egeland and Casey Mack, as Mark Dobmeier, Austin Pierce and Wade Nygaard sliced their way through the field to move into the top five.
The midpoint of the race was plagued by cautions, but on each and every restart Adams was able to hold off second and third place runners Mark Dobmeier and Austin Pierce.
“I think we had the car to beat in the makeup feature,” said Adams “We fended off yellow after yellow and pulled away from a lot of the heavy hitters. It felt good to pull away from and lead those guys. They have a lot more laps than I do.”
Adams looked to have the race in hand in the closing laps until he and Dobmeier made contact with four laps to go. The contact resulted in Adams being sent into the turn four water barrels, causing severe damage to his Home of Economy / Amity Technology No. 20A.
He was credited with a 15th place finish after leading the first 21 laps.
With a bent frame, the team was forced to go to their backup car. Adams missed the heat race as the crew was still thrashing to prepare the backup car, which put the Reynolds, ND driver dead last on the starting grid for the second feature in 27th.
Adams’ never-give-up attitude helped him charge through the field as he passed 16 cars in 25-laps. Adams nearly pulled off a top 10 finish as he took the checkers in the 11th position, netting the hard charger of the race.
“We had a decent charge there in the second feature,” Adams said. “We passed a lot of cars but at the end it became a one lane race track. I wish we could have picked off a few more but all in all it was a decent night in the backup car.”
Adams will be back at River Cities Speedway on Friday, before returning to Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo on Sunday.
“We will treat this Friday like every other night. We show up with a winning attitude and shoot for the best. Last week we nearly had it, so that gives us a little more fire to get after it this week. I want to say thanks to my crew for their hard work. They ran home and loaded our back up car and made it back in roughly 45 minutes.”
On Saturday night, the Jordan Adams Racing team unloaded at Devils Lake Speedway for their final event of the weekend. Adams ran second in his heat before racing to an eighth place finish in the feature.
“I also want to say thanks to all the fans that came down and showed us support with all the words of encouragement,” Adams said. “The impact was pretty hard and I suffered a bulged disk in my lower back, but we’ll be ready to rock and roll this week.”
