Lee Grosz Finds Victory Lane at Jackson Motorplex!

HARWOOD, N.D. (July 11, 2017) – Lee Grosz returned to victory lane Friday night at Jackson Motorplex. The driver of the Beds by Design / HI-10 Sports Center No. 4J drove from the fourth starting position to score his second win of the 2017 season.

Grosz began the night by taking a second place finish in his heat race.

“We really didn’t show much speed in our heat so we discussed how we could be better for the feature,” said Grosz. “We changed a few things on the car and I knew I was going to be good at the end. We’ve been trying to set up more for the end of these features.”

As the green flag dropped on the main event, Grosz fell back to the fifth spot before battling his way back forward.

By lap three, Grosz had moved his way back up to the third spot as he set his sights on Gregg Bakker for second. On lap seven, leader Cody Ledger got tangled up with a lapped car, which ended his night.

That put Grosz in second behind Bakker for the restart.

“Before the yellow, I knew I was catching Bakker so I just told myself to be patient on the restart,” he said. “There was one lap where I could have pulled up alongside of him, but I didn’t want him to see me and take my line away. I waited until the next lap and got underneath him coming out of turn four with about four or five laps to go. I slid him going into turn one and it stuck.”

Once out front, Grosz knew the race was far from over.

“Once I got by him I knew I needed to get by lapped cars as soon as I could. The rubber started coming in with about three to go and I figured if I could get through traffic, I’d be alright. I think we ended up winning by about three seconds.”

This weekend, the Lee Grosz Racing team has three events on their schedule. Friday night will take them to Wagner, S.D. to compete with the MSTS 360 Sprints. On Saturday, they will follow the MSTS series to Park Jefferson Speedway, before making a return to Lee’s home track, Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo with the NOSA Sprints.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to (Red River Valley Speedway),” said Grosz. “We don’t get to run around the area much so to race in my hometown is going to be really special. It’s always nice to run in front of our family, friends and sponsors. Hopefully we can put on a good showing, pick up a ‘W’, and represent our sponsors and fans well.”
