Omdahl Claims Devils Lake Speedway Win

CRARY, ND (July 8, 2017) – Nick Omdahl captured his first win of the 2017 season Saturday night at Devils Lake Speedway. The East Grand Forks, Minnesota driver capitalized on others misfortune at the midpoint of the race to take the lead and grabbed victory in NOSA’s second of four events at Devils Lake this season.

As the green flag flew on the 22-car field, Zach Wilde grabbed the early lead over Shane Roemeling and Casey Mack. In what was a dominating performance early on, Wilde looked poised to capture his first career win at Devils Lake, just like his father, Brenden, did in 2015.

A caution at the halfway point put Mack, who now ran second, right on the tail tank of Wilde for the restart.

Wilde got out to the lead once again, but he was quickly chased down by Mack. Mack looked to take the lead on the outside of Wilde as they entered turn one, but the two drivers made contact in turn one. The result was Wilde jumping over the left rear of Mack, which sent both cars spinning to a stop, bringing out the yellow.

That handed the lead over to Nick Omdahl with Shane Roemeling in second. As the race resumed, Chris Ranten drove into the lead from the third position, but Omdahl was able to race his way back into the lead before the lap was completed.

Omdahl withstood a couple more restarts in the late going before he charged to his second career win at Devils Lake Speedway and third overall.
