Runner-up at Casino Highlights Kennedy’s Weekend!

WINNIPEG, MB (July 6, 2017) – Last weekend Thomas Kennedy was back aboard the Blazin’ Racin’ No. 82 Sprint Car, where they competed at Casino Speedway in Watertown, S.D., River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., and Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, S.D.

Kennedy will be back in his familiar family-owned No. 21K this weekend with the NOSA Sprints at River Cities Speedway.

Kennedy’s weekend began with a second place finish in his heat race at Casino Speedway with the MSTS 360 Sprint Car Series, which lined him up fourth for the 30-lap main event.

At the drop of the green flag Kennedy began moving forward, quickly finding himself in the runner-up position behind Greg Bakker. At the midpoint of the race, Kennedy was reeling in Bakker and looked to place a bid for the lead, but the caution halted Kennedy’s charge.

On the restart, Kennedy couldn’t find the speed he had prior and settled for a runner-up finish.

On Friday, the team headed north to River Cities Speedway to compete with the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Cars.

The results page will show an eighth place finish in his heat, followed by an 18th place finish in the feature, but Kennedy had a much stronger night than that.

Mechanical issues forced the No. 82 machine to the infield while challenging for the lead in his heat race. That put Kennedy back in the 12th row for the 25-lap feature.

Kennedy methodically charged his way forward, cracking the top three in the closing stages. As Kennedy chased the lead duo up ahead, he suffered a push in turn one, jumped the narrow cushion, and slid off the racetrack to bring out the caution.

The team’s weekend wrapped up Saturday night at Dakota State Fair Speedway with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

Kennedy was running one spot out of a dash spot in his heat race when his car began to slow, forcing him to the infield.

The Winnipeg, MB driver rebounded nicely in the feature, however, as he conserved just enough rubber during the feature to come away with a solid 11th place finish.

The Kennedy Racing Team would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support!
