TRUEDSON & MULLEN CLAIMS WINS AT GREENBUSH & BUFFALO RIVER!

July 24, 2017 – Last weekend the NLSA Lightning Sprints were back in action for a pair of events in western Minnesota. First up was Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, Minn.
A stout field of 22 race teams were checked in Saturday at the high-banked quarter-mile. The four heat races went to Presley Trueson, Kelsi Pederson, Roland Bernard and Dexter Dvergsten.

The main event lined up with Truedson and Pederson on the front row.

At the drop of the green flag, Truedson jumped out to the race lead as Pederson followed in second. Brandon Johnson, who has three wins at Greenbush in the month of July, took the second spot from Pederson on lap eight.

Johnson, of Holt, Minn. then set his sights on Truedson for the race lead.

With five to go, Johnson reeled in Truedson and made the pass for the lead. However, Johnson luck ran out the following lap as Truedson reassumed the lead.

From there, Truedson kept the field at bay as she collected the win. Pederson, Dvergsten, Bernard, and Josh Abrahamson rounded out the top five.

On Sunday, the series headed south to Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn.

Grand Forks, North Dakota’s Brendan Mullen led wire to wire in the feature to claim his second BRRP win of the season. Mullen started outside of the front row and edged out Zak Kwiakoski on lap one to secure the lead.

In a race that went caution free, Kwiakoski kept within striking distance of Mullen, but didn’t have quite enough to challenge for the win.

Kwiakoski, Abrahamson, Truedson and Lawrence Veralrud rounded out the top five.
