Austin Pierce Racing – Victorious at River Cities!

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 16, 2017) – Austin Pierce captured his 18th career feature win Friday night at River Cities Speedway. With the running of the 57th annual Knoxville Nationals also taking place last weekend, there were no track or series points up for grabs Friday night; just the win.

“We had the car hooked up all night” said Austin. “We weren’t able to tinker with the setup too much, but my guys have me a good car. They did a great job and I can’t thank them enough.”

Austin began the night by racing to the heat race win in heat two, which put him fifth on the starting grid for the main event.

The driver of the Opp Construction / Lithia Ford No. 2A quickly jumped up to the second position by lap three. From there, Austin set his sights on Blake Egeland for the lead.

Austin was able to reel in Egeland and make the pass for the lead on lap seven, while a hard-charging Casey Mack followed him into second one lap later. Mack put pressure on Austin around the midway point, but Austin was able to maneuver his Ostrich powered Schnee through lapped traffic better than Mack.

That’s all it took for Austin to open up a comfortable advantage and cruise to his third River Cities Speedway win of 2017.

“We were down on cars a little bit tonight, but I still wanted to drive the car just as hard as any other night so we don’t get lazy when the guys down in Knoxville come back up next week,” concluded Austin in victory lane.

The win also marks Austin’s 10th career visit to victory lane at the Bullring, which breaks a tie with Lou Kennedy Jr. and Donny Schatz to put him 6th on the River Cities Speedway Sprint Car all-time wins list*.
