KNOXVILLE, IA (August 3, 2017) – Tonight Thomas Kennedy makes his third attempt to qualify for the Knoxville 360 Nationals aboard the BDS Motorsports No. 1. Coming into the biggest 360 event of the year, Kennedy has six feature wins to his credit in 2017, three of those with a 360 under the hood.

Kennedy teamed up with BDS Motorsports last weekend to turn some laps at Knoxville, but mechanical issues plagued their night.

“We had motor issues all night in the 360 BDS car so we weren’t able to get any laps there. In the 410 class I felt great in hot laps and went out for qualifying and my right front hub bearing shattered which caused the hub to shake violently,” said Kennedy of his family-owned No. 21K. “So I wasn’t able to do what was needed to get a solid lap time. I started last row in 410 heat, had to run the B-main, started fourth row and missed the transfer by one spot.”

Kennedy’s best run at the 360 Nationals came in 2015 when the Winnipeg, MB driver wheeled his machine to a seventh place run in Saturday’s B-main event; missing the transfer position by just three spots. Entering the 2017 edition of the 360 Nationals, Kennedy is confident that he can get the Sebastian Sandblasting and Powdercoating / Super Shox entry into Saturday’s big dance.

“To make it into the big show Saturday will take lots of luck, determination, consistency, and teamwork. If all of those fall into place we should be looking golden for Saturday’s show,” said Kennedy.

Kennedy is excited to drive one of the top 360 Sprint Car rides in the country with BDS Motorsports and hopes to continue their tradition of success at Knoxville Raceway.

“Bryan contacted us little over a week ago. He was wondering what our plans were. Having ran out of time to get our new Mach-1 Chassis ready for the 360 Nationals, we figured we’d take the opportunity to drive for a great, up front running team and race the 360 Nationals for them,” said Kennedy. “The BDS Motorsports No. 1 has had great success over the years with racing at Knoxville and elsewhere. It’ll be a great learning experience for us driving for a team that runs so strong at the famous Knoxville Raceway.”

Tonight’s races will be broadcasted live, via pay-per-view on thecushion.com. Free live audio is available on racinboys.com.
