Lee Grosz Racing – 360 Knoxville Nationals Preview!

By Spieker Promotions

HARWOOD, N.D. (August 1, 2017) – After taking last weekend off, Lee Grosz and the Beds by Design team are ready to make the eight hour haul to Knoxville, Iowa for the biggest race of the year; the 27th annual 360 Knoxville Nationals. Lee comes into the Nationals with two feature wins under his belt in 2017 and 15 top 10 finishes in 18 starts.

“I’m feeling pretty good about this weekend,” said Lee. “We took last weekend off to get ready for Knoxville and make sure we are 100% ready to go. We did a lot of work in the shop, working on setups to try to find some speed. We think we might have found something, but I guess we’ll see come Thursday. I’m feeling pretty confident going into Knoxville. Any time you feel that you’ve found something with your setup, it always gives you a little extra confidence going into the weekend. So hopefully what we found helps us out.”

Lee’s weekend will begin on Thursday night at the “Sprint Car Capital of the World,” as he is scheduled to run on the first of two qualifying nights. From time trials to the feature, Lee will be accumulating points each time his HI-10 Sports Center / Kyle Johnson Trucking No. 4J hits the track.

“Our main goal is to get locked into the A-main on Saturday after our qualifying night,” Lee continued. “It always makes for a lot more relaxed weekend when you know you’re locked in. Our ultimate goal is to run in the top 10 on Saturday night. Anything better than that is obviously icing on the cake.”

Lee says the majority of the weekend hinges on getting through your heat race on the preliminary night.

“Usually if you can get through your heat and run around the top 10 in your feature, you’ll be sitting pretty decent in the points,” he said. “If you can get a top five in your feature, you’re usually a guaranteed lock in, sometimes if you finish around 10th you’ll be cutting it close and relying on your time trial points. Hopefully we can have a good run and get locked in after Thursday. That would take a lot of pressure off of Saturday.”

Lee had enjoyed some success during his preliminary nights at Knoxville in the past. In 2011, the Harwood, N.D. driver won his preliminary night A-main, marking his first career win at Knoxville. Since then, Lee has added two prelim night top five finishes in 2013 and 2014, where he finished fifth each time. Lee’s best finish on Saturday night at the 360 Nationals came in 2014, where he raced to a 17th place finish.
