Strand Records Runner-up Finish at Norman County Despite Dominating Feature

ADA, Minn. (August 16, 2017) – Jason Strand picked up his third runner-up finish and fifth podium finish of the 2017 season last Thursday night at Norman County Raceway. Strand looked as though he had the car to beat early in the night after picking up the win in heat #2.

With a freshly repaired Black Widow Racing Chassis, Strand cruised to the lead from the outside of the front row at the drop of the green flag in the feature. The driver of the Butler Machinery / North Dakota Corn Council No. E85 pulled away from the field and dominated the majority of the 20-lap main event.

In the closing laps, however, Austin Arneson came charging up from the 12th starting position to challenge Strand. Arneson pulled to within one car length of Strand with two laps to go, but Strand was able to fend off the Fargo, N.D. driver coming to the white flag.

Again, Strand held the lead exiting turn two for the final time as the two veteran Modified drivers charged into turns three and four. That’s where Arneson dove to the inside of Strand and completed a slide job off of turn four.

Strand countered with a crossover move and the duo drag raced to the checkers. At the line, Arneson edged out Strand by a mere 0.010 seconds at the line, denying Strand his first victory of the 2017 season.

Despite coming home in second, the E85 Racing team showed plenty of speed in their return to NCR after taking the previous week to dial in the chassis for the remainder of the season.

Jason and the entire E85 Racing team would like to thank all their sponsors for their continued support!
