Truscinski Tames the Bullring, Johnson Claims Greenbush Win

(August 16, 2017) – The NLSA Lightning Sprints returned to River Cities Speedway Friday night as a part of their big three-race weekend.

Alex Truscinski topped the stout field of 13 teams to claim his first career win at the Bullring. Truscinski grabbed the lead on the opening lap from his third starting position and went on to lead all 15 laps around the high-banked three-tenths mile clay oval.

Kelsi Pederson, Alan Truscinski, and Presley Truedson all battled for the second spot early on, but Truedson claimed the position with 10 to go. Truedson tried to keep pace with Truscinski, but Truscinski was just too fast as he went on to score the win. Truedson, Alan Truscinski, and Dexter Dvergsten completed the top five.

On Saturday, the series headed back to Greenbush Race Park for the Baker Cup Memorial. Once again, Brandon Johnson turned in a dominating performance, leading all 15 trips around the high-banked quarter-mile clay oval. Johnson started outside of the front row and grabbed the lead from Alan Truscinski at the drop of the green flag.

Truscinski ran in the second position behind Johnson until the closing laps when a hard-charging Dexter Dvergsten challenged for the runner-up spot. Dvergsten slid into second with two laps to go, but didn’t have enough time to track down Johnson.

Johnson went on to score his fifth win of the season at Greenbush.

Sunday’s races at Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon were canceled due to rain.
