2018 Preview: Ohio bound to open the season!

Pierce will make his 2018 debut this Friday and Saturday at the Sprint Car World Championship at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio. The event will mark Pierce’s first ever appearance at the .44-mile dirt oval.

“Last year we opened the season with the World of Outlaws in Arizona, and we were looking to do something similar again this year,” said Pierce. “I’m looking forward to starting off the season against some tough competition. We are hoping to get things going in the right direction right away so when we roll into the local shows, we’ve got our confidence right off the bat.”

Like seasons past, the majority of Pierce’s events will consist of NOSA shows, but the team would also like to branch out and travel later on in the season.

With 85 cars registered for this weekend’s event, Pierce is just hoping to put his No. 2A machine in the main event. “Making the feature on Saturday night would be huge. If we don’t, I’m hoping we can learn a lot from the weekend and take that back home with us,” he said.

Over the offseason, Pierce added a One-Way Technology 410 engine to his stable. Thursday’s practice night at Mansfield, combined with the two nights of racing, should give the team plenty of opportunity to shake down the new powerplant.
