Nygaard Gears Up for S.D. Sprint Car Nationals!
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (April 25, 2018) – The 2018 season is now in full swing for the Nygaard/Mullen Motorsports team. This weekend Wade Nygaard will look to grab one of the country’s top 360 Sprint Car events; the first annual $10,000-to-win South Dakota Sprint Car Nationals at Park Jefferson Speedway.
Last Saturday night, Nygaard made an appearance at the Knoxville Raceway season opener in the 360 Sprint Car division.
The Auto Finance Super Center No. 9N showed good speed all night long, but the team didn’t get the results they were looking for. “At least we rolled it in the trailer at the end of the night,” said Nygaard, summing up his night. “We are still trying to figure things out down there. I can’t wait to get back there in a couple weeks to fix a couple of the problems we were having.”
Nygaard moved forward in his heat race, advancing from eighth to sixth. That mired him back in the 19th starting position for the main event. “We got up to 13th at one point, but the yellow came out and we had just passed three cars so that put me back to 16th,” he said. Nygaard ultimately had to settle for the 16th position at the checkers.
“That is still the most difficult race track I’ve ever had to set up a race car for,” Nygaard said.
On Friday, Nygaard will be making his first appearance at Park Jefferson Speedway in over eight years. The 28 year Sprint Car veteran says the first order of business for this weekend’s event is getting a good pill draw and locking into the top 16 after night one.
“I’m excited about it. It’s probably one of the highest paying 360 shows that I can think of in our area in a long time.”
