Kennedy Races to Second Win of 2018 at Wagner Speedway

WAGNER, South Dakota (May 8, 2018) – After a somewhat disappointing South Dakota Sprint Car Nationals two weekends ago, Thomas Kennedy bounced back this past weekend in a big way. The driver of the Kennedy Floorings / Buffalo Wild Wings No. 21K picked up two podium finishes over the weekend, including a feature win.

Kennedy picked up his second win of the season Saturday night at Wagner Speedway with the MSTS 360s.

After starting fourth, Kennedy and Jody Rosenboom battled for the lead in the early going of the 25-lap main event. Kennedy eventually bested the Rock Rapids, Iowa driver to take the point.

A caution with eight laps to go put Rosenboom and Lee Grosz right on Kennedy’s rear bumper for the restart, but Kennedy was able to fend both drivers off to take the win.

The victory marks his third overall with the MSTS series.

On Friday, Kennedy was in action at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska with the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints. After finishing third in his heat and fourth in the dash, Kennedy lined up seventh for the 25-lap feature.

Kennedy battled nearly all race long with Jack Dover for the third position. Kennedy was running fourth on the grid when the caution was displayed with three laps to go. On the ensuing restart, Kennedy got by Dover for the final podium position and set his sights on Jake Bubak for second.

Kennedy wasn’t able to get around Bubak in the closing laps, however, and took the checkers in the third position.

This weekend, Kennedy will be in action at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. with the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints. It will be Kennedy’s first event this year with the 410 powerplant under the hood.

Kennedy picked up two wins last year with the NOSA Sprints at the Grand Forks three-tenths mile clay oval.
