Nygaard Comes Home Second at Devils Lake!

CRARY, N.D. (May 22, 2018) – After Friday night’s event at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks was canceled due to rain, Wade Nygaard and the Auto Finance Super Center crew loaded up and headed to Devils Lake Speedway in Crary, N.D. on Saturday.

The co-sanctioned event between the Buffalo Wild Wings Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA) and the Canadian-American Outlaw Sprint Car Series brought in a solid 23 car field for the second night of racing at the high-banked quarter-mile clay oval.

Wade started the night off by picking up the heat race win. The redraw put him fourth on the grid for the 25-lap main event.

When the green flag flew for the feature, Wade wasted no time moving to the front. The driver of the Ground Round / C&M Ford No. 9N powered his way to the second spot on lap one before taking the lead from Jordan Adams two laps later.

Wade pulled away from Adams once out front, but a hard-charging Nick Omdahl placed a bid for the lead around the halfway point.

“It was tough in lapped traffic. Omdahl was able to get through the traffic a little better and it seemed like I kept getting held up on the bottom groove,” said Wade after the race. “I tried to be patient on the bottom, thinking he will slip up eventually but he didn’t.”

In the closing laps, Omdahl suffered a broken right front shock, which opened the door for Wade. “I’m really surprised he hung on with no right front shock. I saw it bouncing around and I just kept telling myself to be patient,” said Wade.

Omdahl was able to hold off Wade, damaged car and all, to claim the victory. “It was a fun race. We made some good changes to the car that have us going in the right direction,” said Wade.

Wade will be gearing up for a big three-race weekend with the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints. The action starts Friday night at River Cities Speedway, then continues to Devils Lake Speedway on Saturday and Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn. on Sunday.

“We just need to get a win somewhere soon,” Wade laughed. “It doesn’t matter where it comes from.”

Wade holds a one point lead atop the NOSA standings over Chris Ranten heading into the weekend.
