CRARY, N.D. (May 16, 2018) – The 2018 season is underway for Brad Seng Racing. Seng opened the year with a pair of events in North Dakota over the week. Seng was in action Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks and Saturday night at Devils Lake Speedway in Crary, N.D.
Seng’s season began in the sixth starting position in his heat race Friday evening. The driver of the S&S Transports / MB Customs No. 12S drove to a third place finish, which put him on the outside of the front row for the feature.
In the early going of the 20-lap main event, Seng battled with Bill Mooney and fellow Grand Forks driver Dustin Strand for the lead. The lead trio raced three wide for the top spot on a couple occasions until Seng settled into second.
Seng appeared to have suffered a mechanical failure, which brought out the first caution of the race, but he was able to rejoin the field as the field went green. Restarting at the tail end, Seng had to fight his way back into the top 10.
Seng’s charge forward stalled out in the eighth position, but he was able to get up to seventh on the final lap.
Saturday marked Seng’s first of several visits to Devils Lake Speedway. Once again, Seng picked up a third place finish in his heat, which put him on the pole of the feature.
As the green waved, Seng settled into second behind South Dakota racer Chad Becker. On lap five, Ricky Weiss got by Seng as Becker simultaneously broke and retired from the event.
Seng then had his hands full with Dustin Strand and Cole Schill before finding his groove in the fourth position.
On the final lap, Weiss and Strand made contact coming to the checkers. Weiss was called for the incident, Strand was disqualified for exiting his vehicle while other cars were on the track, which handed the win over to Schill. Seng was credited with second place after all was said and done.
Seng will be back in action this weekend at River Cities Speedway on Friday and Devils Lake Speedway on Saturday. Both events will be points races for the NLRA Late Models.
