Grosz Scores Top 10 at 2018 Jackson Debut
JACKSON, Minn (June 6, 2018) – Lee Grosz had a pair of events lined up last weekend, but Mother Nature allowed for just one. The Kyle Johnson Trucking / J&J Auto Racing team made their debut at the newly reconfigured Jackson Motorplex. Saturday’s race at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin was canceled due to rain.
A stout field of 46 teams were checked in for the MSTS / UMSS / Midwest Power Series / Nebraska 360s co-sanctioned event. Grosz began the night by racing to his fourth heat race win in the last five nights. The Harwood, N.D. driver missed the dash, which was set by passing points, by two spots. That lined him up eighth for the A-main.
“In the dash, most of the guys ran the top. I was guessing it would be around the top for the feature, but I was wrong and the place to be was around the bottom. Then it rubbered up in the middle,” said Grosz. “We’ll put that in our notebook for next time.”
Grosz took the checkers seventh in the feature, marking his fifth top ten of the season.
With the two first full months of the season complete, Grosz is liking where the team is sitting now and is looking forward to the remainder of the season.
“We’re going fairly smooth right now,” he said. “I don’t think we’ve really hit our stride quite yet. I’m hoping we can get out and race somewhere this weekend and do some time to figure out a few things. Hopefully we can learn a little bit and get back to running strong like we were a couple weeks ago.”
Grosz currently holds a 51 point lead over Jack Dover atop the MSTS 360 Sprint Car standings with six races in the books.
