Kennedy Charges to Sixth Place Run at River Cities

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 4, 2018) – Thomas Kennedy and the KennedyFloorings.com / Buffalo Wild Wings team were back in action Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks with the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints.

A bad draw put Kennedy dead last in his heat race. That didn’t stop Kennedy from racing to the front, though. The Winnipeg, Manitoba driver charged through the field to take the lead and the win of the 10-lap race.

Kennedy redrew the eighth starting position for the 25-lap feature. The beginning of the feature was plagued by several cautions, but once the race had a green flag stretch, Kennedy quickly moved forward.

By lap four, Kennedy moved by Bob Martin to claim the second spot. From there, Kennedy set his sights on Austin Pierce for the lead. Pierce had a straightaway advantage over the No. 21K, but Kennedy cut the distance down to three car lengths.

With Mark Dobmeier hot on his heels Kennedy pushed to get by Pierce for the lead. At the halfway point, Kennedy slipped up and slid off the turn three embankment to bring out the caution. Kennedy had to restart at the tail of the field, but battled his way to the front once again.

Kennedy passed five cars in the final 10 laps to salvage a sixth place finish.

The General Signs / Speedway Shots machine will be taking this weekend off before returning to action against the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Cars at River Cities Speedway on Friday, June 15th and Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints at Devils Lake Speedway on Saturday, June 16th.
