Runner-up at Casino Speedway Highlights Kennedy’s Four-Race Weekend with NOSA

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (June 27, 2018) – Thomas Kennedy and the Buffalo Wild Wings / Kennedy Floorings team embarked on a grueling four-race swing with the NOSA Sprints last weekend. The series covered four tracks in four nights, covering three different states.

Things started on Thursday night at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn. After picking up a convincing heat race win, which he won by over a half lap, Kennedy started sixth for the 25-lap feature.

Kennedy quickly moved up to the top three, where he ran behind Mark Dobmeier and Wade Nygaard. While running third, a lapped car spun in front of Kennedy and he had nowhere to go. Kennedy spun to avoid the lapped car, but still made contact with it which ended his night.

On Friday, Kennedy returned to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. Fresh off a Quick Time and heat race win with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series the week before, hopes were high entering the night at the Bullring.

Kennedy picked up another heat win and started seventh in the main event. Kennedy moved up to third at the halfway point of the feature, but suffered motor issues in the second half of the race which ended his night early once again.

The Big Trucks by Jimco / General Signs No. 21K followed the NOSA Sprints to Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, S.D. on Saturday night. Again, Kennedy started seventh in the feature following a second place run in his heat. Unfortunately, the bad luck followed Kennedy to South Dakota as he was caught up in an early race incident, which forced him to retire from the event early due to excessive damage on the car.

Sunday was the bright spot of the weekend as Kennedy nearly took the win at Casino Speedway in Watertown. The Winnipeg, Manitoba driver jumped out to the early lead from the third starting position before checking out from the field. Kennedy opened up his advantage to over a half lap amidst lapped traffic.

However, the event was plagued by cautions in the final five laps. On a restart with four to go, Mark Dobmeier was able to sneak under Kennedy in turn one and steal the lead. Kennedy fought back, but Dobmeier had the momentum to hold him off. Kennedy went on to finish a close second to cap off the long weekend.

Kennedy will return to 360 action this Friday night at Jackson Motorplex with the MSTS/ Nebraska 360s. The team is debating on either running Cedar Lake Speedway or Knoxville Raceway on Saturday.

A big thanks goes out to all of their sponsors: Kennedy Floorings, Buffalo Wild Wings, Big Trucks by Jimco, General Signs and Speedway Shots.
