Undefeated Dobmeier: Mark Dobmeier collects third consecutive River Cities win

By Mike Spieker

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 1, 2018) – Mark Dobmeier has proved once again why he is the king of the Bullring. Dobmeier raced to his third consecutive Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car win to remain undefeated at River Cities Speedway in 2018.

Bob Martin started on the front row and led the first two circuits until Austin Pierce took command. Pierce was followed by eighth-place starter Thomas Kennedy in second in the opening laps. Kennedy closed to within two car lengths of Pierce on lap eight while Pierce battled lapped traffic.

Both Pierce and Kennedy had a full straightaway lead over third place runner, Dobmeier on lap 10. The following circuit, Kennedy, like several other drivers throughout the feature, lost the handle of his machine and slid off the turn three embankment to bring out a caution. Kennedy would restart 18th, but rebound to finish sixth.

On the ensuing restart, Pierce chose the high line and held off Dobmeier’s charge into turn one. Pierce opened up a five car length lead over the Buffalo Wild Wings No. 13, but Dobmeier came charging back in lapped traffic.

With five laps to go, Dobmeier drove underneath Pierce to take the lead. Dobmeier quickly drove away from Pierce as he raced to his fourth win of the season. Pierce and Nick Omdahl finished second and third. Jade Hastings, who started 17th, finished fourth and Wade Nygaard who got caught up in an incident early on, restarted at the tail to finish fifth.

The red flag was displayed on lap two for Tanner Wisk and Cale Mack who both tipped over. Both drivers were ok.
