First Win of 2018 Highlights Strand’s Triple-Header Weekend!

By Spieker Promotions

PORTLAND, N.D. (July 19, 2018) – The speed has been there all season, but Jason Stand and the E85 team picked up their first win of the year last Thursday night at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn.

After winning his heat earlier in the program, Strand started on the pole and grabbed the early lead of the IMCA Modified feature. Strand looked to check out from the field right away, but a pair of cautions kept the field bunched up. On the second restart, Michael Johnson and fellow Black Widow Racing driver, Dale Kraling, battled for the second spot, which allowed Strand to distance himself from the pack.

Strand cruised to the checkered flag to claim that elusive first win of the season.

On Friday, Strand converted his IMCA Mod over to a WISSOTA Modified to compete at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. Strand had an impressive run going in his heat race. After driving from fourth to second, Strand was closing in on the lead until he looped his No. E85 machine.

A sixth place finish in the heat mired the Portland, N.D. in the 17th starting spot for the feature. With a freshly farmed race track for the main event, passing was difficult. Still, Strand moved forward and recorded a 13th place finish.

The three-race weekend wrapped up at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo on Sunday. Again, tough heat race finish put Strand deep on the starting grid for the feature, but he took advantage of the few restarts in the feature. After starting 15th, Strand made his way into the top five with 10 laps to go and ended up taking the checkers in fourth, marking his best finish of the season at the three-eighths mile dirt oval.

With Thursday’s event at Norman County Raceway already rained out, Strand will return to action Friday at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo for the 48-lap, $1,000-to-win IMCA Modified event.

Jason and the entire E85 Racing team would like to thank all their sponsors for their continued support!
