Pederson earns hard charger en route to top five with NLRA at River Cities

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 3, 2018) – The NLRA Late Models made their second of four appearances at River Cities Speedway on Friday night. Heavy rains leading up to the event made for treacherous track conditions during the features, but Joey Pederson came away unscathed as he raced to a top five finish by night’s end. Along with the great crowd on hand in the grandstands, viewers from across the upper Midwest were tuned into the races as Midco Sports Network broadcasted the event live on cable television.

Heavy rains leading up to the event made for treacherous track conditions during the features, but Joey Pederson came away unscathed as he raced to a top five finish by night’s end. Along with the great crowd on hand in the grandstands, viewers from across the upper Midwest were tuned into the races as Midco Sports Network broadcasted the event live on cable television.
A fourth place finish in his heat race mired Pederson back in the 14th starting position for the main event. Pederson methodically worked his way up the running order on the fast and tacky three-tenths mile bullring. The race was halted for two separate red flags. No drivers involved were injured, however.
Following the second red flag, Pederson lined up in sixth for the ensuing restart. Pederson battled with sophomore Late Model driver, Brody Troftgruben, in the closing laps for the final position inside the top five. Pederson had his car working well on the low side, which allowed him to hold on and claim the fifth spot at the checkers.
Pederson passed nine cars during the feature, making him the hard charger of the event.
The Wissota Street Stocks returned to River Cities Speedway on Friday night. Tucker Pederson drove his No. 27P to a second place finish in his heat and a solid sixth place finish in the feature. Tucker also raced Saturday at Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, Minn. He started the night off by winning his heat and moving from sixth to fourth in the feature.
Kelsi Pederson was also in action at Greenbush on Saturday for her only race of the weekend. After finishing fourth in her heat race, she came home with a fifth place finish in the NLSA Lightning Sprint feature.
Joey will be aboard his ProPower / Victory No. 7P Friday at River Cities Speedway.
