Pierce Charges To Podium Finish at Devils Lake

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 25, 2018) – Austin Pierce and the Opp Construction / Lithia Ford crew unloaded Friday at River Cities Speedway for another night of action on the three-tenths mile bullring.

After driving from fifth to second in his heat, Pierce lined up 11th for the 25-lap main event. Unfortunately, Pierce wouldn’t make it out of turn two on the opening lap. Pierce and Chris Ranten made contact, which resulted in Pierce getting upside down.

The damage was too extensive on the No. 2A machine and he was forced to retire from the event. Pierce was credited with 15th, which ended his streak of five consecutive NOSA top five finishes.

The crew worked hard Friday night and most of Saturday to make repairs for Saturday’s NOSA event at Devils Lake Speedway.

All their hard work paid off.

Pierce sliced through the field in his heat, racing from seventh to second. From there, the two-time and defending NOSA champion lined up eighth on the grid for the 25-lap feature. Again, Pierce drove through the field to reach the top five in the second half of the race.

A couple late-race cautions kept the field bunched up, but at the checkers Pierce crossed the line in third.

This weekend, Pierce will be racing at the Buffalo Wild Wings Governor’s Cup at Dacotah Speedwayin Mandan. The two-night event will mark Pierce’s first appearance at the high-banked three-eighths mile oval.

The entire APR crew would like to thank their sponsors for their continued support!
