(July 25, 2018) – The Northern Lightning Sprint Association returned to its two home tracks last weekend. The action began Saturday, July 21st at Greenbush Race Park for the Chad Olson Memorial.

The night began with time trials, where Michael Schmiedeberg set Quick Time with a lap of 13.277.

Schmiedeberg, Alex Truscinski and Alan Truscinki all won heat races and lined up in positions one through three for the feature. Three  cautions in the early going slowed the race, but once the drivers endured a long green flag stretch, Alex Truscinski drove out to a comfortable lead.

Schmiedeberg reeled in Truscinski as the lead duo put on a show racing for the top spot.

The final caution set up a green-white-checkered restart. As the green flag waved, Truscinski was able to put some distance between himself and Schmiedeberg, which was all he needed to cruise to the win.

Schmiedeberg, Eric Johnson, Alan Truscinski and Presley Truedson rounded out the top five.

Minutes after claiming the INEX Legend win Sunday at Buffalo River Race Park, Tim Estenson climbed aboard his NLSA Lightning Sprint and nearly won his second feature of the night. Estenson, who is a rookie with the series, held a commanding lead until he reached lapped traffic. Josh Abrahamson reeled in Estenson and made a bold move for the lead in turn four.

Estenson battled back to challenge Abrahamson, but made contact with Abrahamson’s No. 16. Abrahamson spun to a stop in turn two, which triggered a caution that went on Estenson. Estenson restarted at the tail of the field as Abrahamson cruised to his second win of the season.

Johnson, Alan Truscinski, Schmiedeberg and Truedson rounded out the top five.
